Since 2013 we’ve had a passion for the potential of augmented Reality (AR). There were, however, barriers to entry that stopped it from winning over mainstream consumers.
Advances in mobile technology and the adoption in 2018 of AR by Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram changed all that, with users sharing their creations via social media channels on a daily basis.
In terms of AR for business applications, there was still a missing link though, namely the ability to view and share AR experiences without the need to download a dedicated AR App.
By chance, when surfing the net just before Christmas 2018, we found Social AR by Pixelcase. Because Social AR uses the normal applications that people will already have downloaded, augmented reality experiences can easily be viewed via the generic cameras of the latest iOS and Android smartphones with QR capabilities.
